Beatcheck at Revolution 22nd August

Beatcheck gets the concrete city into the party spirit this August, kicking off the bank holiday with a massive night of beats, breaks and basslines on Friday 22 August.

The night at Revolution Bar will see two of the most highly respected artists in the scene today in the form of The Rogue Element and Elite Force providing full-on tech beats and dirty basslines all night long.

Alongside them will be Beatcheck’s long-serving band of loyal residents who have been the mainstay of dance music culture for well over two years.

The night has moved from its normal third Friday of the month slot to coincide with the bank holiday. Promoter Jason Charles explained why. He said: “We always get complaints from Checkheads that going to work on Monday doesn’t give them enough time to recover. Seeing as this is a three day weekend, they have 24 extra hours to get their heads back in order. It also means that people can start the bank holiday as they mean to go on, which can only be a good thing.”

The two DJs making guest appearances on the night are two of the mainstays of the dance music scene with more than 20 years of DJ, remixing and producing experience between them.

Elite Force, aka Simon Shackleton, was the pioneer of the tech-funk genre - an amalgamation of breaks, house, techno and electro, which has given him the support of DJs and musicians across the board.

If you think his music seems familiar then you have probably heard it before;. He has provided soundtracks to movies including The Matrix, Charlie's Angels and Spiderman 2, TV shows such as Top Gear and CSI and computer games including FIFA and the Wipeout series. As if that wasn’t enough he has released some huge remixes including Grandmaster Flash, the Stereo MCs and UNKLE and has played at pretty much every venue and festival known to man.

While there may be some funk about Elite Force, The Rogue Element, aka Ben Medcalf, is a very different story. He is a man who prides himself in producing disgusting house, techno and general electronic depravity. Also renowned in his field, he has a host of singles under his belt as well as a 2005 long player Rogue Roc. He has also remixed anyone from The Broken Family Band to Fatboy Slim and consistently rocks major venues in Europe, the United States and Australia.

Festivities kick off at 9, there’s no dress code on the door, entry starts from £3 and selected bottles are £2, so there really is no excuse not to break into bank holiday and come check their beats
