Aylesbury Vale Concerned over Milton Keynes expansion PDF Print E-mail
.The Aylesbury Vale Council's cabinet met on Tuesday January 10th to consider the authority's response to MiltonKeynes Partnership's ( MKP ) consultation on expansion plans. MKP are consulting on six options for delivering 70,000 homes in and around Milton Keynes up to 2031. Four of the options would involve expansion north in Aylesbury Vale.

A bright sunny Saturday morning in late September could not have been better for a protest. Traditional underdogs like the workers and downtrodden from far away places can rely on a sympathetic press, but when the middle classes have a go, there's usually lots of sneering. That's probably why the local TV news didn't make the effort and take a look at what is being proposed for a 500 acre parcel of land, between the Horwoods and Winslow, curiously being described as a brown field site ripe for development.

MP Brian White's words don't wash with me, the MK Expansion Plan is not a plan, by Robert Cook.

I don't recall seeing Brian White at any of the preliminary and final inquiry meetings in 2004, but no doubt that is because I am short sighted. The MK expansion plan is short sighted too, because it is political and politicians only really care about votes and short term gain. As the economist John Maynard Keynes famously stated, 'In the long run we are all dead.'

'As part of the consulation process, English Partnership have put on a two day road show, working to inform surrounding villages of plans for Milton Keynes growth over the next thirty years. I joined locals at Longueville Hall, Newton Longville, concerned about the effects of the massive growth plan and Cheryl Montgomery was there to explain the situation from the partnership's perspective. There was no shortage of data to explain what the planners had been doing and how they expected it all to work out for the best.
